Step OneChoose a single color you'd like to work your decorating scheme around. It can be a traditional color such as red, green, silver or gold or you can use something fun and unexpected like purple, wine or blue. Consider how the color will make the room feel. Warm colors are cozy and comforting, while cool colors make a bold modern statement and call to mind winter elements such as snow and ice.
Step TwoUse the darkest shades of your chosen color for the largest objects in the room--for example, on tablecloths and furniture. Dark colors "anchor" a room, making it feel like a cozier space.
