A well decorated front porch will make a house look and feel festive. Fall is a wonderful time of year that welcomes the harvest. The possibilities for porch decor in the fall are endless. Use simple, seasonal decorations to reign in the fun of this season.
- Hay bail
- Dried corn stalks
- Fall garland
- Wreath
- Wreath hanger
- Pumpkins
- Gourds
- Scarecrow
- Bug spray
- Welcome sign
Step One
Place pumpkins on the porch. Use different sizes. Groupings of three look best.
Step Two
Hang a garland of fall leaves over the front door. Garlands that include acorns and fall berries add an extra nice touch.
Step Three
Hang a fall wreath from the door. A simple grapevine wreath will look great. A wreath that matches the garland would look nice also.
Step Four
Purchase dried corn stalks. Place the corn stalks on bails of hay in corners on the porch.
Step Five
Make a scarecrow from old clothing or purchase one. Sit the scarecrow on the bail of hay or patio furniture.
Step Six
Put small pumpkins on the borders of any gardens. Gourds also look nice and will add a variety of color. Gauge the size of the gourds to the size of the garden.
Step Seven
Hang a fall themed welcome sign on the house exterior near the door. Welcome signs can be purchased at arts and craft stores, home improvement and specialty shops.
- A wreath/garland made from artificial leaves can be used over many seasons.
- Stuff the scarecrow with newspaper.
- Spray the porch for bugs. Bugs love to nest in hay and corn stalks.
- Pumpkins will rot if the weather is warm. Do not plan on using them for Halloween carving.
