When it comes to choosing a siding option for your house, it's hard to beat the classy look of brick. Brick does cost quite a bit, however, which is why it's not the most popular material out there, but if you can afford it, the benefits go beyond looks.

Brick siding should last a century with next to no maintenance required in the first 25 years (compare that to other siding options where you get warranties from 20 to 40 years). Though you want to check the mortar annually for cracks (which should be repaired promptly if found), brick is definitely considered a low maintenance options.
Also brick siding won't rot, burn, or fade in the sun. It provides good sound insulation (nice if you live on a busy street), and thermal insulation is also good. Brick can even result in lower insurance rates (make sure to ask).
As we've mentioned, the downside to brick siding is the cost. Expect to pay $6-$12 per square foot installed (though costs vary by type of brick and the region you live in).
