6 Tips to Update Your Cabin Decor for Spring

Although beautiful, winter is long and cold. Limiting our sunlight and outdoor exposure can bring bouts of cabin fever. Well spring is fast approaching so now is the time to shake those winter blues by updating your cabin decor for spring. Here are six simple tips to motivate you to transform your cabin decor to cheerful spring surroundings!

1.) Pick up some of those fresh spring colors and bring them indoors by trading those hunter green throw pillows for a lighter, brighter shade of green. Of course green is just an example... whatever color throw pillows, try a lighter shade.

2.) Okay Ladies here's your big chance to temporarily remove the dead animal head above the fireplace in the name of decorating. You can reassure your man that it will be replaced during the fall or winter seasons. Now is the time to hang a spring time forest scene print or spring colored quilted wall hanging to bring in those lighter colors and lift your spirits.

3.) A few well placed throw rugs incorporating the same lighter spring shades from the print or wall hanging and toss pillows. The toss pillows and a lighter weight fabrics and lighter colored throw will lighten the feel of even the darkest of sofas.

4.) Replacing furniture isn't necessary. However moving your furniture just a bit or all out re-arranging is fun and will add to the change of season.

5.) You should extend your seasonal decor through to other rooms as well. The Dining table is an easy and fun area to update. A new table runner, a center piece with spring wild flowers, tie backs for curtains (maybe even place a few of those wild flowers in the tie backs), seat cushions and table settings in spring colors will change the room or area quickly. It is also time to light up the scented candles with spring-time fragrances too. Light floral scents and fresh fragrances will add to the over all ambiance and lighter feel.

6). Don't forget those window treatments... Replace heavy draperies needed in winter and fall with cotton, twill or just lighter colored curtains. Open the shades and let that spring time light in!

Keep the main color of the items you cannot change like flooring, furniture, counter tops etc. and add new middle and light tones with (if your main colors are dark and vice versa if your main colors are light) ,accents pieces that coordinate with the darker items. By changing your accent pieces to fresher, lighter colors your cozy cabin will generate a happier place to be. Kiss those cabin fever blues good-bye this spring.
